Yield spread premium is a compensation made by a loan giver to a mortgage broker (i.e. the person that helps a motgage taker to find and apply for a loan) in cases when a loan giver offers its client to take a credit with a certain interest rate, and mortgage broker persuades the client to take the credit with a higher interest rate. In other terms, if a mortgage broker manages to persuade a client to take a credit with a higher interest rate than has been planned by a mortgage giver, he is rewarded by a yield spread premium.
