1130. Residences for communities
1130. Residences for communities is a type of real estate according to the Classification of Types of Constructions developed by the United Nation and adopted by the European Union, particularly Eurostat. It is a Level 4 category that is a subset of the ‘113. Residences for communities’ class of constructions.
Residences for communities include the following kinds of real estate:
- residential buildings for communities, including residences and service residences for the elderly, students, children and other social groups, e.g. retirement homes, workers' hostels, fraternity homes, orphanages, hostels for the homeless, etc.
It does not include:
- hospitals and clinics
- institutional buildings with nursing or medical care
- prisons, barracks
Most of the real property in this category is buildings. According to the EU Classification, buildings are roofed constructions which can be used separately, have been built for permanent purposes, can be entered by persons and are suitable or intended for protecting persons, animals or objects. Additionally, these are residential buildings - constructions at least half of which is used for residential purposes. If less than half of the overall useful floor area is used for residential purposes, the building is classified under nonresidential buildings in accordance with its purpose-oriented design.
